From New York Times Bestselling Author Karen Ranney comes the first book in a royally romantic and deeply emotional new series about taking risks and allowing the power to love satisfy the questions of the heart...

Undercover as a majordomo, spy Adam Drummond has infiltrated Marsley House with one purpose only—to plunder its mysteries and gather proof that the late Duke of Marsley was an unforgivable traitor to his country. At the same time, Adam is drawn to a more beguiling puzzle: the young and still-grieving duchess—a beauty with impenetrable secrets of her own. For Drummond, uncovering them without exposing his masquerade will require the most challenging and tender moves of his career.

That a servant can arouse such passion in her is too shocking for Suzanne Whitcomb, Duchess of Marsley, to consider. Yet nothing quickens her pulse like Drummond's touch. It's been two years since the duke lost his life in a tragic accident—and even longer since she's been treated like a woman. But when Drummond's real mission is revealed, and the truth behind Suzanne's grief comes to light, every secret conspired to tear them apart is nothing compared to the love that can hold them together.

To love A Duchess is the first book in Karen Ranney’s latest series “All For Love” and I first want to mention that I think that Avon did a superb job with this cover. I haven’t read Karen Ranney in a while, and this cover brought my attention back to her and I am so glad that I took a chance on this book because it was wonderful and gave me such a happy feel when I was finished. I do think the narrator did a great job with his narration and I want more of his work because he had a gorgeous heart melting voice and need more. 🙂

Our story begins with our hero, Alex Drummond, who is a Scot, but works for the British spy network and after a mission in India when he and his men were betrayed and his wife was killed he is on the hunt for the traitor involved. Which leads him to the Duchess of Marsley whose husband is to be believed to be the traitor but he is looking for proof in one of his journals as he poses as The Marsley’s House’s Majordomo which gives him full access to the house. But as Alex begins his work in the Marsley manor, he begins to be fascinated with the Duchess who is withdrawn at first and lives in her own world but as a situation forces them to know each other more, there is a attraction between them that neither of them deny and as they search for the proof of the traitor, a plan leads them to the one person that Alex least expects.

To Love A Duchess was such an astounding story and even though it took some time to get into, it was well worth the wait. Our story begins slow though, which sets up the story to its full advantage of making sure the reader enjoys it to the fullest. I had forgotten how much I enjoy this author and love her style of storytelling. I really enjoyed how this story developed. I love a good espionage romance and this worked for me. We have our heroine, who is a widow and also mourning the loss of her son when her husband and son were killed in a carriage accident. Her lady’s maid is drugging her claiming its her father’s will but the tonic keeps her out of it and compliant. But when she starts fighting for her own life back, she discovers her own strength and resilience and this is where the connection between herself and Alex really develops and I love seeing Suzanne find herself and realize her own strength and go after what she wants.

We have a fun plot that forms in this story one that is about betrayal and traitors to the crown and finding out who is behind everything. I was very pleased with out the story developed since the traitor is not who you expect it to be and I loved seeing all the pieces in the puzzle fall into place here. The romance that forms between Suzanne and Alex is strong and full of friendship but sizzling chemistry. Its more of a slow burn romance but its very well done in how their romance develops. I love the sweet dynamic that is introduced in their relationship and what a strong friendship they have that builds into more.

Overall I found To Love A Duchess to be a sexy, intrigue and mystery packed story that leaves you guessing and engages the reader in such a unique way…..A TENDER LOVE STORY TO DEVOUR!
