Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

Tattered is the first book in Perry’s latest series “Lark Cove” and when I saw this book at my local library overdrive, I just knew I needed to try this one out. I have only listened to her books previously, so I was hoping I wouldn’t have a hard time getting into her books and I was pleased to say that this book was wonderful. I really love the rags to riches trope and Tattered was very well done and I think many will relate to the heroine especially.

Thea Landry grew up in an orphanage in New York City and she hasn’t had an easy life and there were only two people that she trusted but everyone else in her life disappointed and even betrayed her. She worked as a bartender in the big city when she met up with a sexy man Logan, and they had one wild night together and then Logan disappeared and she discovered that she was pregnant and even though she spent months trying to find him, but after six months of searching she decided to leave the city and move to a lake town in Montana. Now its been close to six years and Thea has a beautiful daughter. Thea now runs and bar and restaurant with “Gran” and “Jackson” who are as close to her as family.

I like to take the tattered and lost and make it shine. Garbage doesn’t have to stay garbage. Things just need to find their right place

Logan Kendrick has come to Montana to help support a child summer lake camp and while he and his friend come into town for a bit to eat he runs into thea where he learns that he is a father to a six-year-old girl. Logan is shocked by this new turn of events and the complication with Thea and Charlie living in Montana and he having so many ties in New York. But Logan wants a relationship with both Thea and Charlie. He has never forgotten Thea since that one night and he finds something tender forming between himself and Charlie. But Logan will have to make a difficult choice..his life in New York City or his family in Montana.

The passion in his voice and the intensity of his gaze nearly broke me. Because his plea had nothing to do with dancing.

Tattered was a beautifully portrayed romance that just tore through my emotions. I really loved Thea and Logan together and of course their little daughter Charlie was charming. She had spunk and a bit of tom boy but a bit shy around strangers and finds it hard to trust. But once she learns to trust Logan, you just come to adore seeing how much she loves Logan and definitely has him wrapped around her little finger.

We also have a wonderful setting which is in Montana and I just love the lake/forest setting that is portrayed in this book and I can’t wait to see what future books hold. I personally can just imagine so many perfect spots in Montana that this book would take place and yeah GORGEOUS SETTING!!

As for the romance that forms between Logan and Thea, it was one full of emotion and sweetness. There is some powerful chemistry between these two and boy it could set your house on fire, the sparks between these two are pretty powerful. They are careful on taking it slow because of Charlie, but you see the depth of their intimacy grow with each chapter. There are some tough lessons that these characters both have to learn and I was intrigued in seeing them find what they are looking for. There are some complications with Logan’s career and his family obligations but I love the choice that Logan makes in the ind and the ending gives you all the feels. I found Tattered to be a tale of redemption, learning to trust and delivers a poignant romance!
