A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

Blood Type is the first book in the Blood Type trilogy. This trilogy is featured around one couple…Beckham and Reyna. This is a trilogy I have had my eye on for quite some time, and unfortunately I have had to wait this long to read it, mostly because I wanted to wait until I had ALL three books because the first two books end in cliffhangers so its good to note that if you don’t have all three books and prefer to wait for all three.

Our story first starts with Blood Type this is a story that begins with our heroine. The vampires have become known to the human world, and there was a period of economic fallout and now vampires control everything and the majority of human kind live in poverty. Reyna, our heroine, has only her two brothers left, and they are everything to her. They are both working double shifts at a factory to make ends meet and they don’t exactly live in a good part of town. Reyna has tried to find a good job somewhere, but there are none available. But there is one option, an option her brothers will be so furious at her for doing….become a blood donor for vampires. When she enters the facility and begins her testing, she is offered a rollout that is very new, where it would offer better benefits, double the pay but it would be a more permanent situation. So she agrees, to it and meets the vampire she will be providing for…Beckham. At first, he is closed off and a bit rude. But he doesn’t feed off her like she expects him to, he gives her a nice place to live with him, a new wardrobe and an unlimited credit card and a cell phone. She starts to realize that he is one of the good ones out there.

“Everyone is corrupt. Everyone is broken.”
“I’m not,” she whispered.
“Oh Little One, this world will kill the goodness left within your beating heart.”
“But it will not break me.”
“No,” he agreed. He leaned his head into her hair and drew a deep breath. “I will do that.”

Reyna is able to visit with her brothers and let them know what is going on and even though they are furious, they are also understanding and why she felt she had no choice. But when she goes to a corporate meeting with Beckham and meet his boss and other associates, she starts to realize how kind Beckham really is because she sees how the other vamps treat their “humans” and it’s no more than slavery. But Beckham leaves her freedom for the most part and has yet to feed off of her but there are some characteristics about Beckham that don’t add up and she wants to know more about him. She feels a strong intensity to Beckham and doesn’t know what she is truly feeling.

All that was before her was Beckham. A predator luring his prey. And she was trapped. As thoroughly as a rabbit in a snare.

Her feeling are tested for him when he takes her out in the city, to let her get some shots with her new camera (that he bought for her) and she begins to realize the real truth behind the man that hides beneath a mask of deception. She learns that while he may be working at the top in Visage, he is also working to bring it down and bring more equality and safety to humans too. But she also realizes how powerful their connection is when the moment arrives and they kiss and touch and sizzle each other but she learns that he has a girlfriend and refuses to be played. But through a set of circumstances, she learns who this “girlfriend” really is and that not everything is as it seems. She also learns why her blood type is so unique and causes a dangerous reaction with Beckham, a reaction that will plunge her into darkness, betrayed and tossed in the hands of a vampire more dangerous than she ever comprehended…

Blood Type is one of those stories that I was sucked right into and boy this world….I became so addicted. I really love the set up of the story though, so I was intrigued to see where K.A. Linde would take this world that she created and boy she threw me into a world I NEVER saw coming or expected and I love a book that can surprise me and Linde really threw me a new one with Blood Type and now I can hardly wait to grab up books 2 and 3. I am very curious about more about her Blood Type and why it causes such a reaction and I am curious about the “Rebellion” of Elle. I have a feeling this is just the beginning, just the appetizer of what is going to become more intense and I am ALL in.

She wanted more. She craved him like an addict craved the next hit. She didn’t know what he did to her, but when they got like this, she didn’t care. It didn’t matter how infuriating he was, she was caught up in the whirlwind of their desires.

The romance that develops between Beckham and Reyna is pretty intense. At first, they have this enemies to lovers trope, where they are obviously enemies. Because vampires are not looking highly upon by human, which makes sense and considering they are living in luxury while humans are barely surviving and many are destitute. But Reyna is not like other humans, she doesn’t judge vampires based on some bad apples, she sees the good in Beckham and even though he has a dark past, she doesn’t judge him for his past actions, only on the person he has become.

“She could tell he was fighting with his inner demons, and she felt horrible but she hoped they won out. She wanted him so desperately.”

We do have some scary main villains and boy they crack a punch in this book. They are the type of villains that will give you the shivers and might give you a nightmare or two. ( I know because I got one last night) The way that K.A. Linde wrote this book was so intense and full of intrigue and suspense that you never knew what she would be throwing at you next.

The ending was pretty fantastic, and yes I know it ends up in a cliffhanger, but even though I was still expecting it, it still threw me a curveball and yeah I wanted to just SCREAM because it was so dang good and leaves you hanging.

Blood Match is the second book in the trilogy and after the ending of Blood Type, I jumped pretty quickly into this one here. Seriously…if you want to read this trilogy—-which anyone that loves a paranormal romance—you want to trust me; but you do want to get all three books in hand you don’t want to deal with the cliffhanger and not have the next book to read.

So just to recap what happens at the end of Blood Type (and yes this review contains spoilers so just skip ahead to the bottom of the overview if you don’t care for spoilers)

At the end of Blood Type, Reyna has been kidnapped by Harrington when she was betrayed by her friend Elliot. At the start of Blood Match, Reyna has a beautiful dream of being with Beckham, but then she wakes up in her reality where she has been held captive for two months by Harrington. He found out that her blood, is a rare blood type, perfect for him and he feeds off of her once a week and gives her his venom in return. But Reyna never gives up hope that Beckham still loves her and is searching for her. But she is starting to lose hope. She tried to escape once, and was shocked literally because Harrington implanted her arm with a device where they track her movements. We see the torment and the effect of being held against her will in a glass cage and how the love she has for Beckham changes her.

Every breath and every heartbeat and every minute of every day was spent waiting for you.

But when Reyna starts to fight back against Harrington and he shows her into a room, a room where no one can see her, she sees through a window, a ball and she gets an eyeful of Beckham and calls out to him and even though he can’t see her, their gazes connect somehow and in that moment, new life breathes into Reyna. She begins planning to escape but right when she thought she might never get a chance, she is surprised when a new nurse busts her out of her jail cell. They flee Visage Headquarter and rescue one other girl and the team that rescues Reyna will be some of her closest allies.

Reyna is then taken to the ELLE headquarters, Elle is the rebel base for those fighting against Harrington and his regime. She is brought to base expecting and hoping to see Beckham but he is not there, however she has a beautiful reunion with her brothers and she never knew if she would see them again or if Harrington would kill them but thankfully we learn that Elle got to them first. But on her first day back, free, she learns that Beckham is engaged to Penelope, althought she doesn’t know if its for real or fake.

But then when she least expects it, she wakes up to Beckham sitting on her chair in her room, and she is shocked to see him. But things are tense between Beckham and Reyna, and her emotions get better of her and they both make mistakes, and Beckham leaves which leaves Reyna feeling empty and full of regret.

Reyna then meets the head of ELLE, who is a vampire woman and a strong leader. She is strict at times and very controlling and calculating. And is adament that Reyna stays contained for her own safety. But Reyna has been in her own kind of hell and prison for months and needs freedom. But when she takes the risk with two friends, she almost risks everything when she runs into an old friend who betrayed her Elliiot. Even though both Beckham and Sydney (head of Elle) are furious with her, she stands up to them and she and Beckham finally get a chance to be open and honest with each other and their relationship begins anew.

When we were together, when you bit me, it was the best moment of my life, Becks. I trusted you. I told you I trusted you and then I spit in your face. I was wrong. You showed me the real you.

I found this installment to be just as good as book one (or almost) it definitely is quite different and we see the emotional and mental after effects of imprisonment and torture that Reyna has to overcome. We see the strong connection between Reyna and Beckham especially when we learn that their blood is perfect for each other and they have a rare case of being mates. We see such a strong bond of trust and affection form between them, they both have loved and lost so much, but finding each other again breathes new life into their relationship but unfortuntately they will be tested .

Beckham was imprinted on her heart

The ending was spectacular and intense and way more cliffy then book one ended in…and honestly if I didn’t trust that book three would end happily, I would have been more than upset but thankfully I knew I had book three to pick up the story with or I would not have been a happy camper at all!!!

The stunning conclusion to the Blood Type series finds the world in chaos and turmoil with one final battle left to determine who will survive—humans or vampires.

She had the world on her shoulders. Now she has nothing.

Reyna Carpenter was twenty-one when she became a live-in blood escort for the ruthless and darkly handsome vampire Beckham Anderson. She thought this was just a small price to pay for feeding her brothers back home.

But nothing went as planned. Not even her tumultuous relationship with Beckham. And now she wonders if anything will ever be the same again.

As she finds herself in the midst of a losing rebellion, she and her trusted friends must flee from a city conquered by the vampire elite. With their plans blown to pieces and everything they knew and loved gone, their future hangs in the balance.

Despite all she has lost, Reyna must rise from the ashes, reclaim the life that was stolen—and complete her mission, once and for all.

K. A. Linde’s addictive Blood Type novels are best enjoyed in order:BLOOD TYPE | BLOOD MATCH | BLOOD CURE

.

*Contains Some Spoilers….readers Be Aware*

Blood Cure is the final installment in the trilogy that we have here. I would like to point out that there may be some spoilers for those that suffered from the cliffhanger, although if you have read Linde, you know she won’t leave you with a ending such as that. So without further ado….lets talk about this beautiful conclusion.

This is a story that really wraps up this world so nicely, and we see SO Much growth in the characters but most especially in Beckham and Reyna. I just love seeing how much these two really come together in this one.

It starts off with a hard road for both of them. Harrington has broken Beckham’s neck, and Reyna is heartbroken thinking the love of her life is gone forever and that she wasn’t able to get justice. We see Reyna try to keep it together, and we see how losing her Becks gives her a new purpose in life, and she becomes stronger, she becomes a leader for those left to fight. We see her working with her close circle of friends, to find a safe house, discover the safe houses left and rescue the survivors but unfortunately they learn that Harrington has murdered some in the safe houses. But some they were able to save, including her brother and sister in law. But then what happens is that all that Reyna knew changes and tilts her axis, because while outside checking the perimeter she stumbles into Beckham…who is ALIVE and well and their reunion is as sweet and joyous as I was hoping it would be.

Beckham Anderson had stolen her heart, he owned her body, and as they came together, their souls touched.

Beckham and his people join forces with those left with the ELLE resistence, they still have their scientist who is working on a cure and doing research into Reyna and Becks blood mating connection. We see them continue on the search for Judie’s childhood friend that disappeared when she was kidnapped. We see them continue the fight against Harrington, and we discover what happened to Brian and the tough road he has to recovery after being captured and tortured by Harrington.

The romance between Reyna and Beckham only become more vital and stronger than ever in this final installment we see them face some tough challenges, but we also see how much stronger they are together and what a great team they make. And boy do they kick ass here. What I really liked was that even though Becks worries about the safety of Reyna, he also knows he trusts her compltely and they have a stronger bond than any couple they know. They can feel each other and share each other’s emotion and even power and abilities. Their bond has become forged through fire and in Blood Cure, we see that bond tested and how they rise above the ashes and overcome the evil that threatens to destroy the human race.

Say you want a lifetime with me. I want everyting with you.

Overall I found Blood Cure to be a thrilling and edgy paced romance that kept me on edge full of anticipating and heart thumping intensity….a tale of love and fighting for what you believe in, in what is right no matter the cost and that love does CONQUER all!!
