Reckless features Tori and Ethan and is a standalone companion to the USA Today bestseller Shameless.
Tori…For the record, I’m not going to hook up with my boss.
I'm a lot of things—a screwup, a basket case, a flunky. But when I take a nanny job to be near my pregnant sister, I swear to myself I’ll walk the straight and narrow, which means I cannot fall for my insanely hot boss.
I don't want to be tempted by that rugged rancher. By his chiseled muscles or southern charm or the way he snuggles his kids at bedtime. Ethan Carter won't get the key to my heart, no matter how much I want him.
Ethan…Between us, she's the last thing I need as I finalize my hellish divorce.
What sane man trying to rebuild his life wants a hot nanny with long, sexy hair, curves for miles, and a smart mouth? A perfectly kissable, pouty mouth that I shouldn't notice.
My focus is on my kids and my ranch, not the insufferable siren who sleeps in the room next to mine. It doesn't matter that she wins over my kids in a heartbeat or runs my life better than I do. Tori Duran is the one woman I can't have and shouldn't want, no matter how much I crave her.
Reckless is technically a stand-alone novel, however, this author has another book called “Shameless” that is connected to this one here. Shameless and Reckless are about two sisters. And I am crossing my fingers that this author will do another connecting book that will feature this hero’s brother (because he deserves a story…such a rascal) Reckless is a story that features one of my favorite tropes. The hero is a rancher who is about to be divorced with two young children. And he is need of a nanny to take care of his kids while he takes care of the ranch. The heroine while visiting her sister, decided to take the nanny job for the summer until the fall semester starts so she can get her degree. It would be a great option since her sister is pregnant and wants to be close to her.
The chemistry between Ethan and Tori is pretty powerful and at first they don’t really like each other. However, once Ethan gets his head on straight, things really smooth out between Ethan and Tori. Tori is wonderful for the kids, she really connects with them especially Ethan’s cute little girl who is in need of love and affection. Their mother is pretty horrible, and you know how they say some people shouldn’t be parents…well she is one of them. She really has no interests in her children, only in greed for more money. Ethan however, is such a “good” guy. He is honest, kind and hardworking. He is such a devoted father and tried everything to make his marriage work but his wife didn’t really care much about their marriage. So now he about to finalize his divorce and is attracted to his nanny. He see’s how great she is with his children and what a gentle-hearted and kind person that she really is at the core.
I start to wonder, if he’s that gentle with his daughter, maybe he’s the type of man who could be gentle with my heart too.
I really love this story so much, this is the first time reading this author and I was impressed. This was right up my alley, especially in my love of westerns and seeing these two come together was magic. You see how right they are for each other, and they do have the conflict of drama that the ex-wife seems to bring. I honestly couldn’t put this book down and the narration was done so well. I don’t get to listen to these two narrators too often, but when I do…I always get a kick out of it. This story is such a heartwarming and sweet romance. It definitely has its “hot” moments for sure, but the swoony…melt your heart in every way was there in every chapter. You find yourself cheering this pair on in finding their HEA. I was captivated by their personalities, the charming children that are in desperate need of love and attention, a crazy and fun uncle (who I have a feeling will have his own story very soon), some laughs….a bit of tears and much emotion that leaves your head swimming yet yearning for more. A PURE PLEASURE!!
There’s certainly a great deal to learn about this subject.
I love all the points you’ve made.
