A Full Moon On The Rise
With enemies circling, MacRieve spirits Chloe away to the isolated Highland keep of his youth. Summary

Uilleam MacRieve, is over nine hundred years old, and he still doesn’t have a lifemate. His family suffered a great loss, due to a mistake he made as a teenage boy, and now there is only his twin and Macrieve left. His twin is all he has, but when he is captured, and tortured, his life changes. He doesn’t believe that he is redeemable and that there is no good left in him. But then he feels the call of his mate, and he knows he has to live for her. Chloe Todd, is driven, and is working toward playing in the Olympics. She plays on a professional team, and she has everything going for her. She has dedicated her whole life to soccer. But then her father comes to her, acts strangely, and leaves. She then finds herself kidnapped by witches, who want to auction her off to the highest bidder. She never imagined paranormal creatures existed, but her father is their enemy, and she is the key to destroying them. But then she is rescued by Macrieve, who is gentle and charming and tells her they are mates. She never thought she would be brought into a world of vampires, witches and shifters. But there is a key to her past that Choloe doesn’t know, and when all is revealed it could ruin any future she has with Macrieve.

The Hero

Uilleam MacRieve, once made a dreadful mistake. A mistake that cost him his family. As a teenager, he thought he had found his mate, but it was a succubus, who made him believe in a love that wasn’t there. He was only a boy when she seduced him, and then enthralled him. When his family found out the truth, he loses both parents and an unborn sister. Now all that is left is Monroe and himself. Macrieve blames himself, even hundreds of years later. Macrieve, is the tortured hero you just feel drawn to. He is like a magnet in the story, and from the very beginning, my heart broke for him. He hasn’t had it easy, but neither has his twin. Macrieve was such a good hero, even if he was a pain at times. But he had a certain complexity that was compelling, he isn’t a simple drawn hero. He has many depths, and it was an adventure seeing Macrieve grow into his character (despite how old he is), and boy did I want to share a bed with that man. He can turn on the heat like none other. His strength of will is powerful and after all he has suffered, he can still prove himself on each page.

The Heroine

Chloe Todd, was a truly magnifiscent heroine, but I am not surprised with Kresley Cole writing her character. I don’t think I have read a book of hers, where I didn’t like the heroine. Chloe is driven, passionate, and accepting. She is not one of those that goes into denial about her true identity or her change in circumstances, which sometimes happens in paranormal romances. When Chloe learns about paranormal creatures, she doesn’t put her mind in denial, she accepts things as she views them. She is determined to succeed in her dreams, and that is to play soccer. She has worked her whole life for it. She has a quality to her character that the reader is always cheering for. I loved her wit and playfulness and readiness for anything that came her way.

Plot and Story Line

Macrieve is the 13th installment in the series. I still can’t believe how much this series has grown and developed. I remember when the first books came out, and there was just vampires and such. Now it has expanded to so much more with each book. I do need to catch up on the series, but I felt like reading this, I wasn’t totally lost. Which is good since it is the later half of the series. What was impressive about this story was the emotions it conveys to the reader. I felt like I was all over the place, from laughing my head off, to tingling in certain parts of my body, at the edge of my seat in suspense and totally in tears. It definitely wrenched quite a bit out of me, and even though it’s not my favorite book of the series, I really had a jolly good time with it. I will say that the heroine impressed me way more than the hero. Now the hero has some major unresolved issues that causes a negative….way negative impact on his relationship with Chloe. I felt like he was such a jerk at times, especially when he learns the truth about her, a truth she had no knowledge of. But even though I felt like he could have treated her better, I also felt a mixed array of feeling over his character…because his character is about human nature. What drives us, what causes us pain and suffering and what can give us joy in life. You see the battle in himself and Cole is such a talented author in conveying that war and showing his true self even though there are parts that aren’t pretty. But they are true to who he is. The setting itself is pretty great, I mean we have this whole “in danger” aspect, and everyone is on edge. And you feel that tension in the story. One of the other aspects I loved was how unpredictable this story was. When I thought I had guessed what was going to happen next, I was blown away in the next chapter. This story definitely was full of some thrilling twists and turns that keeps you guessing. As I look at my reading experience of this story, I will say that the ending definitely is superb, as far as how things end for the couple, but it does leave a cliffhanger of sorts…which makes me hungry for more…

Cover

I actually adore this cover. The eyes are at the center and make the cover great. I love the intense stare, and that hair, it gives off the dangerous vibe of the story.

Overall View

Macrieve a another great thrilling addition to the series, a story of danger, intense romance, dramatic characterizations, stunning detail and a story to tie you up in knots. One HELL of an adventure!!

Favorite Quote

The witches ignored her, turning up the stereo. She cringed when yet another Bieber song pumped away. Great, she’d been captured by fucking Beliebers.

They planned to sell her at auction? When “Beauty and a Beat” played for the fifth time, Chloe decided she was ready for the block.”
