Debbie Renaud is a police diver working on criminal cases with SEAL Allan Rappaport. She admires him greatly for his missions in the Navy, plus he's just plain HOT. Allan seems to share her attraction, but what she doesn't know is that her partner is wolf shifter.
Allan is really hung up on his smart, beautiful dive partner, but he can't get involved with a human outside dive duty. Yet when she gets between a werewolf hunter and his intended victim, one of the members of Allan's pack, they run into real trouble, and their lives are altered forever.

My Review

Summary

Debbie Renaud is a police diver, and when Allan’s SEAL partner gets a broken leg, Debbie starts working with him. Allan and Debbie at first work professionally together. There is a mysterious woman murdered in the woods, and when a local woman and her baby are almost killed in a hit and run, Debbie and Allan realize that is more than a simple coincidence. Allan, knows that Debbie is human, who has no clue about wolf shifters and he knows that despite his chemistry with her, nothing can happen, because he could never mate her. Debbie is strong and professional and loves her work, but she has never felt such chemistry with anyone. But when Debbie accidentally learns the truth about Allan and then her life changes in ways she doesn’t expect. She learns that she and Allan will be set on a course, there is no turning back from and she will have to learn how to adapt to new circumstances and the ever present danger.

The Hero

Allan Rappaport, is a Navy SEAL and a expert diver and soldier. He is committed, driven and loyal. But he is also a were wolf shifter. His best friend is the Alpha of the pack, and when he becomes injured Allan is forced to use a alternative diving partner, Debbie. Allan at first is reluctant, but he forms a bond of friendship with this strong woman who gets to him in a way no woman ever has. Allan is quite the hero, and I loved many things about his character. First off, his friendship with the alpha is quite fun. It’s obvious these two have known each other a long time, and can read signs from each other. Allan has a very strong personality, he is split in two over his duty to his pack and his attraction to Debbie.

The Heroine

Debbie Renaud has no clue of what Allan truly is, and who the towns people are made of. Debbie is a talented police diver, and she is committed to doing everything she can to protect those that need aid. Debbie was a heroine I grew to really like. Even from the beginning, there was something so real to her and I loved how human she felt. She isn’t one of those “perfect” heroines, we sometimes read. She had flaws, but she also has spirit and strength and courage. She goes into a situation with no fear, and I loved how determined she is especially when it comes to finding the killer and seeking justice. But what was also pretty great about her character, is seeing how she faces up to a change in her life. She handles it pretty well considering the circumstances, and I liked that she didn’t put on airs, and acts haughty. She looks at life in a very “common sense” way and I felt like I could relate with her in many different ways.

Plot and Story Line

SEAL Wolf In Too Deep is the latest story from Terry Spear. Now for many years,  I have been a solid fan of this author and I have really admired with what she has done with the series. It has definitely grown quite a lot, and I didn’t realize how much she has written in this series. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, before I started reading. I was hoping that it would be enjoyable, but I will say it didn’t quite meet up to my full expectations.

My main issue with this story was the romance itself. The characters were full of facets and easy going and I felt so easy to relate with their situation. The plot was thick full of mystery and danger and some suspense, so I definitely couldn’t complain on that score. However I had the most difficult time seeing these two as an intimate couple. There is a good solid foundation of friendship for much of the book, but even when their relationship goes to the next level, I couldn’t feel the chemistry. It didn’t feel like what I have seen in the series in the past, which was a bit of a let down for me. However I did love seeing the story play out from beginning to end. It was a fun experience to see characters from previous books come into play into this book. I loved having another SEAL wolf romance. Those are always fun, and I have always liked Allan. Debbie was strong, building a career, but at the same time she was creative, intelligent and heartwarming. She could be a fighter in one moment….and your best friend in the next with a sweet and kind nature. There was great duality that we see.

I think what really stood out to me in this story, was the way the plot plays out. There is some exciting scenes, funny moments between these two and man I loved the action and mystery. The mystery of finding the mystery killer is what drove the story to be a good read. My only complaint is wanting more from the actual romance. Hopefully her next book will be much more vibrant in that regard. But despite my feelings on the actual love story—-I really enjoyed reading this one.

The Cover

What a cover…man is he one sexy beast. I love the setting of the lake with the backdrop of the trees. Definitely gives off the feel that we see in the actual setting in the story iteself.

Overall View

SEAL Wolf In Too Deep is a wonderful tale of a sexy SEAL shape shifter, a courageous diver, a killer on the loose and some steamy moments that wraps up into a likeable story. FUN AND ENGAGING!

Sorry the romance didn’t click. That happens once in a while. I read one way earlier in the series and was meh about it, but I do plan on giving the series another go at some point. The suspense and their personalities as you describe them do draw me in.
