Plot and Story Line

Lady Emily Exotic Journey is a story that is so unlike any regency type romance. It is rare to read a story like this and it was quite refreshing reading something different and unique. This is the second book in the series, What I loved most about this book was seeing how it unraveled. There were some moments that the story seemed to drag a bit, but once I got about halfway it really picked up. This is a story that has two plots (kinda). We have the main story line between Lucien and Emily. There is a second one…the story between David and Julia. David and Julia are very alike. Both have backgrounds that are similar to each other, but they both have plans for a future that go hand in hand. Lucien and Emily’s personalities are a great match as well, but they are starkly different from David and Julia. Both Lucien and Emily crave adventure and travel. What is most interesting is that as the story unravels we see how Lucien and Emily change, as Lucien faces the problems of his past.

He saw the truth. They were not copains. She was his woman. He did not want her as a friendly companion. He wanted her in his arms, in his bed, clothed in that dark honey hair and nothing else. He wanted her, desperately, hungrily, and he had to have her.

This is where Emily and Lucien really come together and rely on the bond they have to embrace what is meant to be. What was most fascinating was seeing how both of these couples come together, and it takes a dangerous plot that makes these four individuals realize how fragile life is and to embrace every moment. What is most fun about this author is the detail she places in her stories. So far its only two books, and even though the story seemed a bit slow at places, I loved how see makes the story and places come alive for the reader. Not too many authors have the ability to create such detail especially when it comes to historical romance. Overall I found that this is a story of adventure, passion, intrigue and an endearing love story.

The Cover

I adore this cover, and it totally matches the story so well. I love her dress, and the pose here, with the background of the river.

Overall View

Lady Emily’s Exotic Journey is a fun tale of desire, adventure, enticing characters. A sexy and wildly entertaining romance.

About Lillian Marek

When I was a child, my mother would tell me to stop reading and go play outside. But even outside, I could often be found with my nose in a book. It’s a condition that has followed me all my life, and when I haven’t been reading, I’ve been writing.

For years that writing was done as a journalist, but I finally realized that fiction is much more fun. This way I can make sure the bad guys are punished and the good guys live happily ever after.

Now my husband and I live in a 200-year-old house by a pond near Long Island Sound, so that when I run into a knotty plot problem I can go for long walks on the shore and let the waves wash it away.

Oh I’m glad you liked this one too. I was hesitant at first – I don’t tend to go for the “Seduced by the Sheikh” type books and I was afraid this may be a bit like that, but it wasn’t. And it was so different from the other Victorian era romances I have recently read, it was really cute. I actually liked the romance that unfolded between Julia and Oliphant more than the main couple. LOL

I love a unique storyline, and having two plots simultaneously sounds interesting. I’m glad the plot picked up in the second half of the book. Great Review 🙂
