Brady…

What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.

Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.

I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.

Katherine…

When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.

What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.

I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.

* Author's note: Due to mature situations and sexual content, Shameless is recommended for readers 18+.

Shameless is a story that I was looking forward to especially after having such a fun time with the connection book Reckless. This book features the other sister, Kat. Kat was such a fun character in Reckless, that I was eager to read her and Brody’s book. Especially since they play such an active role in Reckless and we see how they are after finding their HEA.

The story starts off with a sad beginning, so its not for the faint of heart. Katherine had come to work for her closest friend and her husband who ran a lavendar farm and helped take care of their 18 month old daughter. But then one evening they died in an accident when their car got stuck in a river bed during a rainstorm. Katherine has blamed herself. Brody has come to settle her affairs with losing his brother Cal, the brother he once was close to but when Cal fell in love and married his wife with only knowing her for a short time and moving to texas to start a farm…Brody thought his brother made a mistake. But getting to know Katherine, and his niece and seeing how much Cal devoted to the farm and to his family humbles him including the fact that Cal wanted Brody to have guardianship over his daughter if anything happened to him or his wife. Both Brody and Katherine suffer pain and guilt and connect on both an emotional and sexual levels. But Brody plans on returning to Boston where his life is. And Katherine has only known a humble life in Texas.

I admired this book so much, and I loved the mix of diversity that we find here. The hero is your typical boston working class man but is a bit unconventional working his father’s business but also works in a tattoo parlor. Our heroine, Katherine, is hispanic, she has sass and a fun personality. But Katherine has been burned badly and has never really been treated right by men in the past until she meets Brody. Who is protective, fun, sexy, and kind to her and treats her with respect which she hasn’t known much of growing up. We see more depth to Katherine and her family and I admired both of these characters and their strength especially in seeing them struggle through the grief and loss they feel. The romance between them is slow burning but sweet and sexy too. Its a romance that will make you cry at times but also fill you up in those unsuspecting moments and the ending was magnifique and brilliant. I can’t wait to see what else this author delivers.
