Will Montgomery is a successful professional football player and seemingly has it all. He’s not used to being told no, and certainly doesn’t take no for an answer. So when he turns his charms on his sister’s sexy rocker-chick friend Meg, he’s not only turned down, but met with open hostility, piquing his curiosity and libido. He’s determined to show her that he’s not the arrogant jock she thinks he is, and to get her into his bed.

Megan McBride is not impressed with Will Montgomery, his fat contract, fancy car, or his arrogant public persona. She doesn’t have time for a relationship, and if she’s learned anything in life, it’s that loving means losing, so she guards her heart ferociously. But she can’t deny the overwhelming attraction to the sexy, tattooed athlete, and when Will starts breaking down her defenses and grabs hold of her heart, will she be able to admit her feelings for him, or will her troubled past cause her to lose the first man she’s ever truly loved?

Play With Me is the third installment in this wonderful series that is set in Seattle, Washington. I have always loved this beautiful city so having a whole series set in it has been so fun. Play With Me has been a book I have been really excited for since picking up book one and meeting Will Montgomery. I am such a sucker for sexy football players, but most especially a man like Will Montgomery. He is so dedicated, hard working and a good human being. He may make a ton of money for playing a sport….but he works his butt off for it and he does what he loves. Will Montgomery has a major crush on his sister Josie’s friend Megan.

However Megan has the whole being mad at him and hehas no clue what he did wrong. Megan, is a nurse at a children’s hospital and for two years has been receiving rejection slips for some members of the team including Will Montgomery to come visit her kids. So Megan blames Will and even though he has no clue about it, she is so angry with him. Thinking he is just some arrogant football jerk, but she soon realizes that Will is nothing at all like what he seems. She realizes that he is sweet and kind and caring. And once she gets over what made her angry, she see’s the real Will…the Will that only his family has seen. She sees how hard he works for his career, the long hours of training and the true bond he has with his team. Megan isn’t exactly a football gal, but she learns to appreciate what her man does for a living but boy these do really were both hilarious.

“Aren’t you getting sick of me yet?” I ask lightly, wrinkling my nose.

“Yes, I’m terribly sick of you. You eat too much, hog the bed, and cheat at video games. Not to mention, you require way too much sex. But, I’m muddling my way through.”

I loved seeing the sweet and soft side to Will especially when it comes to Megan and boy does he bring on the romance in this book. Even though there is quite a bit of sex scenes, as are typical of this series I have just accepted, this book might be my favorite because there is so much more focus on the relationship and I LOVED that. And yeah the scenes of the girls in the family getting drunk are HILARIOUS!! I did like the character development that we see and seeing more of Megan’s past and seeing her come to terms with it and learning to love in a way that she hasn’t ever felt before Will came into her life.

A romance that left me with a smile on my face and a little skip to my walk….breathtaking!!

Front Man Leo Nash from the world-famous rock band, Nash, is the last person on earth Samantha Williams would trust. She's already learned about loving a celebrity the hard way and isn't signing up for another lesson.

Every time Sam gives Leo attitude, he wants to knock that chip off her fragile little shoulder. What the hell did he ever do to her, anyway? He's not used to women treating him like he's poisonous, and he isn't about to let her run away every time he gets close. He's had enough of people running away to last him a lifetime...when this one runs, he gives chase. But, catching Sam isn't as hard as he thought.

The sexual attraction between them is so thick, Sam can practically hold it in her hand. There's no way she can deny herself the promise of pleasure being with Leo would provide.

But, pleasure always comes with pain and when secrets are revealed and trust is challenged, who will run and who will chase?

I was really intrigued by the hero here. We are introduced to Leo in “Play With Me” who is Megan’s adopted brother of sorts, and is the leader of one of the most famous rock bands in the country. Leo has come to Seattle for a break from ongoing tours and just to work on his music and spend time with Megan, who he hasn’t seen in years.

I have to say I didn’t know what to expect since I am not a fan of the heroine. Samantha is Luke’s sister (the hero of the first book) and honestly I thought she was horrid to Natalie, and when I say Horrid, I mean like “being a true bitch” –apologize for my swearing, but seriously she was so mean and cruel. And I really didn’t want to read a story with her in it, because the first book definitely turned me off from her. And to be honest, I didn’t really like her for a lot of the story. I never really grew to love her, tolerate her a bit more, but never really like her character. I really didn’t like how she treated Leo or her family most of the time. And even though we understand more about her past and why she is so closed off so much, it didn’t endear me to like her more.

When you smile

Your sunshine hits me

And the shadows in my soul

They are gone

Now Leo…is just a lovely hero, and yeah I didn’t really understand why he didn’t talk to Megan for so many years but I did love how he handles Samantha, he definitely has a strong shell for sure because she lashes out so badly and he just takes it. But Leo sees the Sam that she hides from most people and I really loved how patient he was with her. And yeah he is one sexy rock star for sure. The one other downer to this story is the amount of sex scenes, I think this book has more than the previous books and I found myself skipping through them because there were so many of them.

But overall I liked this story, and even though it wasn’t my favorite of the series….it was a fun diversion from reality and I can’t wait for book 5–Caleb and Brynna’s book. 🙂

About Kristen Proby

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.
