Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition (108)

December 7, 2017 Loverofromance Throwback Thursday 9 Comments

This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

After a brutal attack, Jessie Pringle moved to the small mountain town of Pine Creek, Maine, to start over. But she never expected to meet Ian MacKeage, who had seemingly stepped right out of the Scottish Highlands. As drawn to Ian as he is to her, Jessie finds it more and more difficult to deny her own desires…

Then, on one of her long walks through the wilderness, she meets a kindly hermit who sells her a walking stick-one imbued with a magic that may allow Jessie to finally be rid of the pain of her past, and build a future with Ian.

Why Highlander For The Holiday?

I have so much love for this series and for this author, she wrote this series so very well. But when you mix in some adorable animals and some fun Christmas cheer, it only gets better. With a heroine recovering from an emotional truama, a sexy medieval highlander and some magic….you can never go wrong!!

About Janet Chapman

Janet Chapman is the author of twenty-two contemporary and magical romance novels, all of which are set in her beautiful state of Maine. She lives in a cozy log home on a beautiful lake with her husband, surrounded by an eclectic assortment of wildlife that she finds both entertaining and inspiring. Probably best known for her Highlander Series (a saga of twelfth century warriors rebuilding their clans in modern-day Maine that now spans three generations), Janet also has two spin-off magical series (Midnight Bay & Spellbound Falls) and several contemporary family series set on the coast and in the mountains. With over three million books printed in six languages, her stories regularly appear on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller’s lists.

When she’s not writing (well, when she should to be writing but isn’t), Janet and her husband are traveling the state in their camper throughout all four seasons; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and generally rubbing elbows with Mother Nature while always keeping an eye out for colorful new characters—human and beast—to put in her stories.

I love this authors books and was so sad when we lost her. I have a few on my shelf that I still need to read.

  • I’m always down for a little Highland romance, but then you add animals into the mix and I’m sold. I love this feature, Renee. It’s such a great way to shine light on some older books.

  • I think I’ve read one of hers before and enjoyed it! I didn’t know about this one though so thank you!!

  • Christmas and a dog!? Those are like my two favorite things!!! Thanks for the rec!

  • Sharlene Wegner

I believe I have this book on my shelf. Will have to check. I am in Christmas reading mode. Thanks for the review!

  • Christmas with a highlander and some cute critters? Sure thing!

  • Michele H

How can you not pick this one up, between book blurb and the cover? Love her writing. Still so heartbreaking to have lost her this year…

  • I picked up this book as an ebook awhile ago, but still haven’t read it. Oh my gosh, I say that way too often. So glad to hear it’s wonderful.

  • Is this a time travel romance? Maybe I can find it at my library. I just won’t pay $9 for a Kindle book. That’s just me. Sounds really good though. Thanks for the recommendation!
