Book Review-Ravage by Tillie Cole

Ravage is a stimulating story of sacrifice, of losing one self and having to make a difficult choice of family and love against a great evil…

Ravage was another wonderful installment in the Scarred Souls series. I have just been hooked on this series. But I was really excited when I saw that this book was available in the Romance Audible Package and I just jumped at a chance to read this book here. And boy was it good, not as good as the previous books but it had some elements that we didn’t see in the previous two books. The plot of the series as a whole really takes a new turn here that adds thrills and excitement for the reader. d

In Ravage, we have a heart-wrenching tale that will guarantee that it brings out some tough emotion due to this engaging kay players

  • 194 (Valentin), is our sexy hero, taken when he was just a boy along with his younger sister. And he does anything his “mistress” asks of him so he can get their freedom
  • Zoya Kostava, a Russian Mafia Princess, was taken to safety when her family was slaughtered and her two brothers taken captive.

This was a story that was a bit different than the previous two books, it was darker than the other two. It does deal with some difficult issues that not all readers might be okay with. However, if you enjoy reading dark romances, then this book will definitely work for you. Our hero Valentin, was young when he and his sister were taken prisoner at the orphanage. He vowed to make sure she was safe and do everything he could to free them one day. Valentin has been made to be a killer, a slave to the drugs that his “mistress” makes him take through his collar. He never has a choice but his life will take a unique change in his new mission to kill Zaal, the man who killed his mistress’s love. But his quarry is a woman who means something to Zaal, his beloved sister Zoya. As Valentin works to break Zoya’s defenses and get the truth about her relationship with Zaal, Valentin discovers something new that he has never experience….desire and heartfelt emotion that he has only felt about his sister. Soon Zoya and Valentin will be forced to make some difficult choices but the most challenging will be learning to fully trust in each other and the love that they have together.

There is quite a bit of growth that Valentin goes through here and it gets to the point where he would rather have love than to be a slave for the rest of his life. He hates what he does or what he becomes under the drugs that he is forced to take. And seeing him stand on his own and fight for what he believes is right is really beautiful and heart breaking. The relationship between Valentin and Zoya is not easy in the beginning. I mean, Valentin is being forced by drugs to get information out of Zoya, so it’s not pleasant obviously. But he does change and starts to fight the drugs more.

I’m not only scarred on the outside, Kotyonok; I’m scarred on the inside: my mind, my heart, and my soul…… I am your Tbilisi monster…

I honestly felt that this story was the toughest that I have read so far. Because we see what this couple is really faced with and the odds aren’t in their favor. But we do get some moments with our previous favorite characters such as Luca and Zaal. And this side plot is needed for sure. Luca and Zaal know that danger is coming they just have no clue what form it will take and Zaal has no idea that his beloved sister is still alive or that she is being held prisoner to get to him. And my goodness, once he learns the truth, Zaal really has to face up to certain things on a emotional level.

I knew his life had been as impossible as mine. Knew he wasn’t truly as evil as he seemed. He was just like my Anri and Zaal. Like me. Broken

The development of the plot here was key and Tillie Cole did a fabulous job on taking me on a great adventure of thrills and suspense and danger. I honestly never knew what was going to happen in this book, and these twists really worked me hard. What made this book sound wonderful was the latter part of it. This is where you fall in love with this anti-hero that is Valentin. Seeing what he sacrifices for his Zoya is so heartfelt and real. And seeing him do so much to save his sister, it just about broke my heart. He goes through so much but seeing the way that Zoya cares for him, seeing the ways that she loves him outside the bedroom was priceless. Valentin has never known a kind word or tender touch and Zoya teaches him.

Tillie Cole has done wonders with this series, these books are full of tortured souls and damaged hearts that slowly heal with love and understanding and acceptance. I feel so much emotion when I read her work and this author teaches the reader what unconditional love and forgiveness are all about!! This story will wrap you up and endear you to these beautifully crafted characters in a way that you won’t forget!! UNFORGETTABLE!!

We are different. Me weak and you strong. Me a Georgian and you Russian, but our broken hearts are tired and old. Our spirits are low, though not broken. But our souls, though thoroughly tested and hardened through pain, are resilient. THEY ARE THE SAME.

*Now bring on Valentin’s sister’s book “Riot” I will admit I am kinda nervous about this book because his sister has been forced to be a sex slave but from what I hear the hero is AWESOME!! So I can’t wait for the finale and see Valentin and his sister be reunited and that his sister has never forgotten him.

About Tillie Cole

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!

Elite Books I Am Most Looking Forward To 2018

Its New Years Eve and so this is where we begin to focus on the New Year!!! There are so many fabulous books coming out this year. And some of these books I have been waiting YEARS on!!!! It is a bit of a long list, so I apologize but there are so many goodies to look forward to.

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

Lorraine Heath is an auto author for me, she always has been and to this day that hasn’t changed at all. Her writing is so compelling and emotionally driven and writes the sexiest romances. Her characters are flawed and real and the types you wish are real. The reason I am so stoked for this book is the HERO!! HE is not a duke or a lord or a viscount….he worked in business and has a yummy alpha tendancies.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

EEK!! I can’t tell you how excited I am for this book because it feels like forever that I have been waiting on it when in reality its only been about six months…but STILLL I am so excited. The idea of a biker PNR romance from one of my favorite authors, has me so STOKED because I have a feeling this book will be EPIC!!

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

I adore this author so much, she is so talented but honestly I think the cover alone would make me want to grab this book up ASAP!!! However, there is more to this story than meets the eye and I can’t wait to delve into this book with a bayou setting and a mystery to solve!!

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

Suzanne Enoch is one of those authors that I will always read, even if her books are just okay, I just love her work for the most part. I got hooked on her young and have never fallen out of love!! And this series of hers is AWESOMESAUCE!!! So I can’t wait for this one and love this dramatic cover here.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

I have no clue if this book will be coming out this year or not, the information I have is Feb 2018 but it probably won’t be that soon. But crossing my fingers that it will be this year since there have been so many delays on this. I understand the reasons why, however I CANT WAIT for it. I am still waiting to hear back from the author. So lets all hope we get luck enough this year to have this released right?

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

So it feels like I have been waiting on this book for like forever, I have adored this O Malley family, and this book is a bittersweet feeling to be honest. Because its the last book, and even though I have been looking forward to this pair, I also am sad to see this family go. But what a BLAST they have been and hope they get their HEA they all deserve.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Thanks to Book Twins Reviews (which if you haven’t checked out their blog….do so NOW its amazing) And I want this series in my hands like NOW!! And what a sexy tender cover right? I just love the way they are holding each other. Like they never want to let go. Yeah I am a cheesy romantic…so sue me hehe I want this book and I can’t wait for it.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

First off….COVER HOTNESS!!! Yes I am a cover whore, and this is one of my favorites this year. I am holy moly….where is this man, I would so time travel to the medieval highlands to grab this man up. But honestly once you get past the gorgeous cover, look at the blurb because yeah it sounds even better. A rebel heroine who turns pirate to save her clan??? HOOYAH!!

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

I will admit that lately I have lost touch with this author and her heroines I don’t really care for always. Too modern heroines for my taste but this cover is pure tempation. So I will probably grab this up and see if I like her books or if I don’t.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Okay I love the cover but I DONT!! Its gorgeous of course, but so not historically at all. You would NEVER see that dress except in the modern era right? But I love pink so I love it hehe And I am looking forward to this one, since the heroine is one that I love. She is sassy and spirited and talented. And its Lisa Kleypas, so I will always read her no matter what.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

When you bring together a spymaster and a princess….BRING IT ON!! Plus its Sabrina Jeffries and how can you resist right? Because I ADORE this author so much. So I am super excited to read this. I did receive an ARC, so I will be picking this one up very soon. And I want to know the secret of flirting so I can master it hehe

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

Okay so this is one of my TOP picks for what I am anticipating this year. ONe….its a fantasy romance and I swear this sub genre in romance is just not written in enough?? Anyone agree? And second….these are the best books I have read from this author. And she just made me so eager for some dragons, I just loved the culure she introduced in the most previous book So I Married A Sorcerer so I can’t wait to see what she does with this delicious drabon hero and look at that body??? Can you resist, because I can’t.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

So I discovered Alisha Rai this year and LOVE her so much. And I think we are about the same age and both single which is cool. Most authors my age are married with kids, make me jealous hehe But I love her writing. And these diverse characters she writes are so endearing and wonderful.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

If you love vampires this series is for you. I just love this world of vampires because there is such a scientific reason behind their existence and I LOVE that. Its reasonable and logical and these books are so funny. I just crack myself up over these books.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

I LOVE this series so much, its Lora Leigh’s best work. Now why am I so excited for this book?? Because its CASSIE’S story. I have been waiting for her book for years now. So I am so excited. This is the top most excited book I have on this list. And the prologue I read was beyond awesome. I do hope the hero is good enough for our Cass.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

I love Anne Gracie so much, but haven’t read her in a little while. But when I heard of this book I was so excited for it. Marry In Scandal, is about a shy heroine (I love shy heroines) who is forced to marry a rake—-Love this trope so I can’t wait and what a gorgeous cover right? I mean her dress, the fan, and the beautiful garden backdrop.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

So there really isn’t a major reason why I am excited for this book other than the fact that its Jennifer Ashley, its another installment in the Shifter Unbound series and I love the colors of the cover. And from the blurb, it sounds like it will be an edge of your seat story. So I can’t wait for it.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Okay so I just hooked on this author so I can’t wait for this book, and yeah I like a shirtless man kiss on the neck…so SEXY!! Because kisses are the neck are hot!! That is all.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

So I haven’t read this author, but this stand alone sounds too good to pass up. And yeah the billionaire trope is overdone, but this book sounds different than your average Billionaire romance so I am definitely going to be grabbing it up.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

I am so excited for this book especially when I was so impressed with book one. This book is set in the gilded age in New York City. We have a office type romance and their relationship has a more “forbidden” theme to it.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

I just started reading this series and LOVE it so much and plus its Kate Meader so it has to be good right? And I love a hockey player that is Scottish??!! YUMMY.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

YES!!! Kate and Curran…..Curran and Kate!! One of the best written couples ever in romance fiction!! And yes I consider this romance even if its UF, I still consider it romance because these two rock and I love seeing their relationship grow through these books. And I am just hoping that this finale will rock!!! My hopes are for some great action, Kate’s dad to go away, some kickassing by Kate and some rough around the edges actions by Curran and some intense battle scenes that will make this on the edge of your seat FUN!!

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

This Ferraro family is so amazing, and I have adored every book so far. I love this edgy dark like romance that is amazing. And Shadow Keeper should be amazing. Each of the siblings deserve to have someone to love them, because they have been through hell since they were kids, and my heart breaks for what they went through here. So I love seeing with each book, them finding themselves more peace and learning to love and being loved.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

I have really enjoyed reading this author, and she is one of the few that writes Regency in the way I love to read it. And what a cover right? I love the mixture of colors, its like looking at a rainbow of sensuality.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

YEP!!!! SO THRILLED FOR THIS BOOK!! First off, its Nalini Singh, so you have to be stoked for this book here. And I am loving this world that Singh has created, and seeing more hidden depths. And I have been so curious about the Black Sea changelings, so I am pretty excited. What about you?

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

I have never read this author, but I hear her writing is sophisticated and classy and I can’t wait. And yeah the cover is totally playing a part in me wanting to grab this up.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Yep another Lorraine Heath because its Heath of course!! And second, this cover is SEXY, I just love this romantic pose they have here. And the purple tones is beautiful. So I don’t even need to read the blurb to want to grab this up and yes I will be buying this one.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

I am in love with this series, and this is probably the best cover so far because kilt, abs, hair flowing in the wind….YEP I am wanting it. GIMME GIMME GIMME!! And its Aulay’s book, so I just can’t wait to read his book.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

I am really excited for this book, especially when I was pulled into this author’s writing with book one. And I love some sexy law romance!!!

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

I am pretty stoked for this book, I think the cover here is yummy and just makes me want to grab it up.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

The first book was so wonderful, so I am pretty excited for book 2, and I do love a sexy cowoby and Wilde writes them so well!!!

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

YES …MORE HAVEN BROTHERHOOOD, so I am so so very excited for this book because these books are amazing!!! And yeah the cover is HOT!! And its Beckett’s book and the teaser Rhenna Morgan has shared on her site makes me wish I could get my hands on it now!!

“I’m all in, Farmer Boy.”

Royal Affair by Marquita Valentine

Bound Together by Christine Feehan

She was genuine. Sweet. Protective. Nurturing. Everything he’d never had and didn’t know he needed or wanted. It was impossible not to love her. He hadn’t known that kind of love existed. You have given me something … I didn’t even know I needed. It’s the greatest gift I will ever receive–it’s, like, completing me already in places I wasn’t aware were empty. And yet … in spite of all that? I don’t love you one bit more. You are as important to me as you’ve always been.” He curled down and pressed a kiss to the loose shirt she was wearing—it was one of his, actually, and wasn’t that great. “I was wholly bonded to you before this, and will be after this—and forevermore

Because your hair shines like gold in the sunshine, because as a leopard, you can hang upside down from a tress, for the Goddes’ sake. Because your eyes look like topaz, because you can kick the ass of any Shifter who gets in your way. First off, I think you get little credit for being friends with Remy in high school. It’s not as if you just met the man two days ago, you know. Even if you had, there’s nothing crazy about falling fast. It simply means fate put you in front of the man you were meant to be with. There’s nothing insane about that. In fact, its magical

Lord Of Lies by Amy Sandas

White Hot by Ilona Andrews

A tall man was striding from the far end of the hallway. He wore the black robe and it flared around him, the wings of a raven about to take flight. He walked like he owned the building and he’d spotted an intruder in his domain. Magic boiled around him, vicious and lethal, so potent I could feel it from 30 yards away. He wasn’t a man, he was an elemental force, a thunderstorm clad in black about to unleash its fury.

I would like to say that every book I read this past year was simply amazing but I would be lying!!! Unfortunately I did have to DNF a few books and low rate some others which was so sad because I so didn’t want to have to be disappointed in reading.

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

I would have loved to have this book be amazing like I expected but it was a bit of a disappoointing read unfortunately. Especially in how the hero treats the heroine. Of course he has money and is really successful and suffering from a bout of amnesia but he is a jerk in this book and it really puts down the story in ways I didn’t care for too much. Now granted there were some redeemable moments but it was not what I was expecting since I have loved reading this author in the past.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”three-fourth” position=”last”]

I have loved this author so much in the past, but I just couldn’t get into this one, I just couldn’t feel the connection for this story and I felt a bit bored which is a novelty when it comes to her work.

I know I know, I am probably the only person on the planet right now that didn’t care for this book but its true. I just could get truly invested in the story until the end, I felt like I was forcing myself to read it and the only reason I didn’t put it down earlier was because pretty much all of my blogging friends RAVED about this book so I just knew I had to give it a shot and I did and was so disappointed. It just didn’t click with me, it was probably just me but the story just dragged way too much for me to really enjoy it.

[/wc_column]

[/wc_row]

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”three-fourth” position=”first”]

I had grabbed this book as a audiobook, now I am not sure if it was because it was a audiobook and the narrator just didn’t work for me or what, but I just couldn’t find myself interested in this book and I SO wanted to be into this but felt so “bleh” about it. I do plan on picking it up in printed or ebook format one of these days because I would hate to have to give up on this book completely.

This was an ARC and yeah normally I force myself to just get through these books if I receive it through a publisher or author, but this book was so CONFUSING!! I have read this author quite a few times and enjoyed her work. However, this book just gave me a headache and put it down and had to DNF it. Which was really difficult especially when I wanted to enjoy it but just didn’t.

I loved the first book and had no issues with it. However I really was disappointed in this one. My big problem with this book was that it felt like a contemporary romance and it drives me crazy. I don’t care too much for modern heroines in a historical romance—I mean I am reading a HISTORICAL….so I want a historical type heroine. Just some of the phrases the heroine would say is so 21st century and just ruined my true enjoyment of the story as a whole. Even though there were other redeeming factors, this really made me want to throw the book against the wall.

Book Review-When You Love A Scotsman by Hannah Howell

In When You Love A Scotsman is a thrilling, on the edge of your seat historical romance that will take you back to the turbulent times of the Civil War that torn the American country apart. This is not as story that is easy or kind….its tough and hard and brave and courageous.

The wonderful courageous characters that become the key players are:

  • Abigail Jenson, our lovely heroine, who has become orphaned due to the horrors of war in losing her parents. A kind and loving woman who adores her family.
  •        Matthew McEnroy, our courageous hero, is one of the seven brothers that have migrated from Scotland and is serving in the military to help fight the rebels or anyone that wreaks havoc on innocents.

This was a magnificent story and I honestly just couldn’t contain my love for this story and most especially the built up of the plot. It starts out pretty intensely where we see Abigail lose her parents and is rescued by a handsome soldier. A soldier that ends up taking her to a safe haven. A haven where his unit is stationed in the same town as Abigail’s. Matthew begins to slowly court Abigail, because he feels a strong connection to Abigail and wants to see where it can lead. Especially in seeing the way his older brother found his happiness in his new family. But there is danger around them, and Abigail and Matthew are drawn together by a certain set of circumstances and they act on those peaceful moments that are rare.

There were many aspects of this story that I truly adored. This has some endearing qualities that only a reader sees in a Hannah Howell book. I truly had a true connection to pretty much every character in this book Of course, we have our main couple here who on their own as individuals, and are majestic when they are together. They really balance each other in certain ways and I loved their chemistry. They have the same goals and I liked that they just fit so right for one another and their love story is one you can slowly ease yourself into. But then we have some other side characters that were heartbreaking at times and sweet and pretty hilarious in other moments. I LOVED the kids in this book, most especially Noah. He was such a darling little boy, who had lost so much but still had a sense of innocence and charm and was always getting into trouble.

I had only one major issue which probably won’t be a surprise to many of you who know my certain obsessions when it comes to historical romance. In this book, what I couldn’t stand was how quick these two have sex. Yes, it happens VERY quickly, way faster than I would have preferred. And quite honestly, it just had too much of a modern feel to it. Honestly, this would never have happened back in this time period. Mostly because of the risks involved and back in this era, marriage happened before becoming intimate. That is just how the culture and society worked even in the worst of circumstances. So it just didn’t feel right when these two just happen to jump into bed together or whereever they could get themselves alone and they aren’t the only couple that we see this happen. But the author did make an effort to show how society did frown upon these actions but Abigail and Matthew tended to be way too careless in my opinion and I just couldn’t truly be okay with this in a historical romance where certain expectations weren’t something you messed with.

However I truly enjoyed this story overall, there was so many thrills and adventures and this author takes us on the realistic views of how the Civil War was and how it divided family and left hundreds of women and children without parents or families or homes. I can’t wait for book three in this endearing family of seven Scottish brothers.

About Hannah Howell

After five years and many rejections, I finally got my first book on the stands in 1988 – Amber Flame – from Leisure Books (reissued a while back under the title His Bonnie Bride). Also the western – A Taste of Fire published by Kensington in 1988. (and reissued by them several times since then) After about 10 years of writing English, Scottish and western historicals for several publishers (even venturing into the occasional pen-name) I settled in at Kensington writing Scottish historicals. Thus was born the great Murray clan (and a very prolific clan as well.) In June 2009 I started a series set in late-Georgian England concerning two connected families – the Wherlockes and the Vaughns. The first – If he’s Wicked – was that June, the latest – If He’s Tempted – was released April 2013. My cunning plan is to then do one of the Wherlockes and one of the Murrays each year. We’ll see how that works.

I grew up in New England and my family (on the maternal side) has been here since the 1630s. The paternal side is half Nova Scotian and half English. Met the hubby in England on a trip to meet and greet the English side of the family, bought him a drink in a pub, and the rest is history. Been married for 42+ years now. I have two sons, one a graphic artist (Sam) and one a mechanical engineer (Keir), a daughter-in-law who is a teacher (Beth), and three stunningly attractive, highly intelligent grandchildren (boast much?) – Benjamin, Jennifer, and Evelyn Rose. And they all live within driving distance – hooray. Being mildly insane I also have five cats – Matilda (high strung), Shadow (who is a little ferally and lives under a chair in my living-room because she does not like the ‘kittens’ I brought home years ago.), the demonic duo – Jackson and Perkins, and the latest addition, Mungo.

When I am not writing – which isn’t often – I play games on the computer, play the piano (took 13 years of lessons when growing up), crochet (very addicting), read, and garden (some day I will conquer the demon weed).

Elite New Series of 2017

[wc_row]

[wc_column size=”two-third” position=”first”]

The Mount Trilogy

I had such a fun time with this trilogy, it features the same couple and their journey over three books. You do need to read these in order but boy were they good!! I loved everything about it, edgy….dark….sexy and emotionally provacative. I will say that the cliffhangers on book one and two really worked me so hard. This is not an easy group of books to read, but if you love a dark romance, than this trilogy is a must read for you. We see such growth in their relationship and seeing the change in these characters is simply amazing and will work your emotions.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-third” position=”last”]

Seven Brides For Seven Scotsman series

This new series has been so fun to read!! It offers such unique qualities. Seven Scottish Brothers who have moved to America, and settled out west with a sheep ranch. Love this brotherly bond they share with each other and the unique women that capture their hearts. If you liked the play “seven brides for seven brothers” you just might get a kick out of this series.

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

Boudreaux Family

I always fall for the sexy New Orleans setting and this series I just picked up a few months ago is pretty wonderful. I LOVE this family so much, they are so hilarious. Each sibling deals with some unique emotional vulnerability and I love seeing these siblings find love even though ironically they are all a bit cynical about serious relationships. Love the southern charm that is displayed and some fun moments that makes you smile.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-half”]

Coming Home Trilogy

This trilogy was all released this year and boy what a group of books. I feel so hard for this series and this wonderful endearing family. This story satisfied every romantic need I have in my romance novels and this author wrote these great in depth stories with no nonsense drama that I fell hard for.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

Haven Brotherhood

I have to say that this author really shocked me in delight in how much I truly enjoyed this series. And what a fast writer she is, because she is popping these books out so quickly and we don’t have to wait a year for a release which is awesome. But I love these group of men who look out for each other and protect one another and the brotherhood they form is awesome. So unique from most MC series you read.

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”first”]

Forbidden Hearts

Alisha Rai is a new author and I just started this series a couple of months ago and FELL in love with these books here. I love forbidden romances, but these diverse sexy romances are so unique and different and Rai is so talented in her books.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Scarred Souls

Tillie Cole is quite fantastic and another winning author when it comes to dark romance. What impressed me most about this series was the way that these books are written that are a bit different from what you normally see in a dark romance. I really adored these books and so much fun they were. There is quite a bit of suspense and intrigue and it saddened me to see what these heroes go through but it also makes you think about reality in a different way than you expect.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth”]

Stark Trilogy

What a joy this series was to read, and I kept hearing so many wonderful things about this  author and just wanting more great erotic romance like these books. For a while now, I have struggled with this sub genre in romance, and fell hard for these books here. J.Kenner writes the style of erotic romance that works for me because it has such balance with emotional intimacy. Its not all about the sex, it has a strong focus on the “love story” too.

[/wc_column]

[wc_column size=”one-fourth” position=”last”]

Fairy Tale Quartet

This is a new series by Linda Kage and I am in LOVE!!! This is the first book but I can’t wait for the author to write more books. Because one I adore fairy tale retellings especially with unique elements. I just admired the way this book was written and so different from what you would expect and I can’t wait to see which fairy tale she will touch on next!! 🙂

Elite of Newly Published in 2017

Rough and Tumble by Rhenna Morgan

I had, of course, read previous books by this author however this new series of hers is AMAZING!!! I can’t stress enough how good these books are. I love this brotherhood and not your average MC type romance at all. Every character is simply endearing. In Rough and Tumble we have our leader’s story. And boy wish he was real.

Devil In Spring by Lisa Kleypas

I was pretty nervous about this especially with the son of Evie and Sebastian being the hero. But man, he was probably my favorite hero of the year. He was written so amazingly well. Even though the heroine is not my favorite of the heroines written by Kleypas, this author managed to make me like a character I really didn’t care too much for in the beginning. So bravo!!!

Into The Fire by Jeaniene Frost

Oh WHAT A BOOK!!! Even though its not my favorite one of the series, it was definitely one of my favorite books to read this year. I loved everything about this book. And I just can’t get enough of Vlad and Leila. For some reason, I like them more than Cat and Bones. And man this book just had me on edge the WHOLE TIME READING IT!!!

The Sea King by C.L. Wilson

This Is an AMAZING FANTASY ROMANCE!! I had such a fun time with this book. I liked it just as much as Winter King, and what man this author made mermen sexy as hell. What I fell for madly for this one was the culture of the men. I love how eager they are to fall in love and get married—MEN NOT AFRAID OF COMMITMENT??!! Yep they LOVE it and work their butts off to get the opportunity. I read this 600 page book within one day. That is how good it was for me.

So I Married A Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks

This was the year for fantastic fantasy romance because this book ROCKED the house!!!! There was so much in this book that I adored and loved in every way We start off with a kidnapping by a pirate and this pirate turns out to actually be a good man at the heart and the woman he kidnaps wins his heart and they go on some adventures together to reclaim justice. I love how well matched these two are. And man, this book is probably the best this author has ever written.

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare

I was pretty nervous about this book to be honest. This author I have struggled with for a few years now and her writing just hasn’t worked for me. Her stories are just way too modern for historical romances. However even though The Duches Deal had a slight feel of that, it wasn’t as prominent and it was such a witty and endearing read. And I this is the first book I have read from her that I really enjoyed since her Spindle Cove series.

A Daring Arrangement by Joanna Shupe

Who doesn’t love this era? I love seeing this book just come to life here. I love this era and setting of New York’s 1800’s Gilded Age. So fascinating and so rare to see now a days. I loved a non regency romance and this book was simply just fun and lively and the writing was superb.

Ride Wild by Laura Kaye

I will have to say that out of all the MC romances I have read, this series is my favorite because I love these men in the brotherhood and how they go out of their way to reach out to help women in danger. Specifically women and children that are suffering from abusive relationships and being sold into slavery. I love these “knights on bikes” and this book was my favorite.

Undercover Attraction by Katee Robert

This O Malley family has been a blast to read and I loved this book so much and plus a fake engagement trope always works for me. But I loved seeing another side to the eldest brother and the one sibling I haven’t always know what to think about. But I did fell in love with him here.

Elite New To Me Authors of 2017

Alisha Rai

This author I recently discovered with her newest series and I just fell in love instantly with her writing. She writes authentically real diverse romance. I love the diverse characters from chinese to hawaiian to mixed races and its so wonderful because you rarely see those in romance even less so than african american’s. So it’s very refreshing and seriously she writes forbidden romance like it is a part of her!!! And we are the same age and have the same single women problems hehe

About Alisha Rai

Alisha Rai has been enthralled with romances since she smuggled her first tattered novel home from the library as a teenager. She writes hot and emotionally complex contemporary romance novels and is frequently sought as a speaker on topics such as love in the digital age, sex positivity, and inclusive representation in romance and media.

She is the first author to have an indie-published book appear on Washington Post’s annual Best Books list. Her books have also won the RT Reviewers Choice Award and have received critical attention and rave reviews from sources such as Library Journal, USA Today, BookRiot, Washington Post, Bitter Empire, NPR, and Smart Bitches Trashy Books. Alisha spends most of her time traveling, reading, dreaming up sexy heroes and heroines, and tweeting.

Kristen Proby

I picked up this author a few weeks ago when I signed up for the audible romance package and oh my word…her Boudreaux series set in New Orleans is sexy and romantic and beyond full of swoons and I am so glad that I decided to take a chance on her.

About Kristen Proby

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

Nikki Sloane

I read her latest book, which is a NA and deals with some crazy fun in American Football rivalries and as someone that grew up in the Holy War rivalry, so many things I could relate with. And I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to pick more of her up.

About Nikki Sloane

Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there.

Now she lives in Kentucky, is married and has two sons. She is a two-time Romance Writers of America RITA© Finalist, also writes romantic suspense under the name Karyn Lawrence, and couldn't be any happier that people enjoy reading her sexy words.

Harper Sloan

This author I discovered early in the year, and she writes the most real contemporary westerns I have ever read other than Joan Johnston. Her writing style is what I love in romance. There is so much feels in her books, and not much drama, just characters accepting their relationship and enjoying being together. Not a ton of conflict, just books you can easily relax into with a few laughs along the way.

About Harper Sloan

Harper is a NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL and USA TODAY bestselling author residing in Georgia with her husband and three daughters. She has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books, hibachi, tattoos and Game of Thrones. When she isn't writing you can almost always find her with a book in hand.

Alyson McLayne

I picked up this author and what a writer. I love the style that she writes historical romances, because they aren’t modern hardly at all and I just respect an author that keep pace with the “time of the era” but also doesn’t feel outdated or anything. And boy can she make me burst out in laughter so badly. So very witty and charming and some yummy highlander lovin’.

About Alyson McLayne

Alyson McLayne is a mom of twins and an award-winning writer of contemporary, historical and paranormal romance. She’s also a dog lover and cat servant with a serious stash of dark chocolate. After getting her degree in theater at the University of Alberta, she promptly moved to the West Coast of Canada where she worked in film for several years and met her prop master husband.

Alyson has been nominated for several Romance Writers of America contests, including The Golden Heart, The Golden Pen, The Orange Rose, Great Expectations, The Molly’s and The Winter Rose.

Her debut historical romance, Highland Promise, will be published by Sourcebooks in October, 2017. Highland Promise is the first of five books in The Sons of Gregor MacLeod series. Highland Conquest will come out in February, 2018.

Alyson and her family reside in Vancouver with their sweet but troublesome chocolate lab puppy named Jasper.

Tillie Cole

This is an author that writes my style of dark romances, because they totally make sense in the way that the heroes are so rough around the edges but once they find love, they just treat their women so well and I LOVE her writing style. I am always on the edge of my seat when I pick up her books.

Ye-haw!

J. Kenner

I have really struggled with erotic romance over the years, most of the time it just doesn’t always work for me because it tends to lack emotional intimacy that I crave in a romance. However this author just delivers in every way and I can’t wait to read more from her. Because she has made me fall in love with this sub genre in romance.

About J. Kenner

J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and International bestselling author of over seventy novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.

Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, Victorian-era thrillers (coming soon), and paranormal mommy lit.

Her foray into the latter, Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner, has been consistently in development in Hollywood since prior to publication. Most recently, it has been optioned by Warner Brothers Television for development as series on the CW Network with Alloy Entertainment producing.

JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swopn for him.” A three time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy).

Her books have sold well over a million copies and are published in over over twenty countries.

Hope Ramsay

If you are ever looking for those quaint small town romances that are beyond charming,  this is an author to go to. I just started reading her and LOVE her work so much. They just work for me and if I need a book to relax with on a rainy day or a snowy night, this author is my go to from now on!!!

About Hope Ramsay

Hope Ramsay was born in New York and grew up on the North Shore of Long Island, but every summer Momma would pack her off under the care of Aunt Annie to go visiting with relatives in the midlands of South Carolina. Her extended family includes its share of colorful aunts and uncles, as well as cousins by the dozens, who provide the fodder for the characters you’ll find in Last Chance, South Carolina. Hope earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Buffalo, and has had various jobs working as a Congressional aide, a lobbyist, a public relations consultant, and a meeting planner. She’s a two-time finalist in the Golden Heart, and is married to a good ol’ Georgia boy who resembles every single one of her heroes. She has two grown children and a couple of demanding lap cats. She lives in Fairfax, Virginia where you can often find her on the back deck, picking on her thirty-five-year-old Martin guitar.

Katy Evans

Now if you hadn’t been paying attention to my site for the past year, than I can’t tell you enough how much I love Katy Evans. She writes the dreamiest of heroes, beyond swoon worthy and honorable. And her books always are easy to get into, so you are guaranteed an entertaining story.

About Katy Evans

Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on their own happily ever after. Katy loves her family and friends, and she also loves reading, walking, baking, and being consumed by her characters until she reaches “The End.” Which is, hopefully, only the beginning…

When Glory stumbles across a criminal with a high reward, she faces off with a mysterious cowoby who wants the same man for himself and he then gets shot in the crossfire.

At first these two aren’t a huge fan of each other, more on Glory’s side than on Luke. Despite the fact that Luke has been shot because of Glory, you would think that he would have more negative feelings toward Glory but he doesn’t. There is a strong attraction between them, but Glory is cynical and stubborn especially when it comes to the male species. I wouldn’t say I liked Glory at all. Her personality was a bit too rough for my liking. She is the first heroine from Linda Broday that I really struggled with in ways that I didn’t want to struggle but it kept happening, and she was way too stubborn for her own good.

I did however fall heavily for our hero, who is beyond honorable. Despite the way that Glory is so suspsicious of him and his actions, he tends to prove so kind and understanding and doesn’t judge her at all. I loved that about him, when he was way too nice for Glory in my opinion. I also admired how much he gives back to Glory and her family, in ways that he didn’t even need to but he did it because of his caring and affection for them and because he is a man of honor and I adored that.

There were many wonderful moments between these two, and I just loved the setting and the heroine dealing with being blind and the struggles that come along with that. The romance that built between these two was simply wonderful and once Glory overcame her stubborness and mistrust than their relationship really flourished and once that moment happens I didn’t want to put this one away.  AN INTRIGUING ROMANTIC TALE IN THE AMERICAN WEST!!!

About Linda Broday

I live in the Texas Panhandle on land they call the Llano Estacado where the Native Americans once roamed. History is so thick here with the ghosts of the people who settled this land. I love writing western historical romance and can't imagine writing anything else. I love a man in a Stetson and tight pants. Cowboys also get me fired up.

The Elite of Romance Narrations 2017

Into The Fire by Jeaniene Frost

I will admit that the narration done for this book was simply fantastic here. It was performed by Tavia Gilbert and such a superb job was done on this narration. The book was only made better by this story.

Deacon by Kristen Ashley

This series has been so wonderful, and I had the wonderful opportunity to try this out through audible. This book was performed by Stella Bloom and I love her voice so much. It is so endearing and likable. What impressed me most about this narrator’s work with Deacon was in the way she made the characters come alive in this one. They felt so real and raw and it made me wish the story was real.

Force of Temptation by Suzanne Wright

I will say that Jill Redfield has become one of my favorites to listen to, that is how wonderful she really is. So talented, and easy to listen to here. And she has made this series so wonderful to listen to. Simply a joy to listen to.

Easy Love by Kristen Proby

I have to say that Sebastian York always delivers the best peformances and has the sexiest male voice I have ever listened to. This was one of the most recent audiobooks Ihave listened to and LOVED it. This book was simply fantastic and my first time reading and listening to a Kristen Proby book and won’t be the last.

Elite Leading Ladies of 2017

I have discovered some wonderful heroines this past year that are sweet, strong, courageous and beyond endearing and easy to relate to. These women are an inspiration, I love seeing them face unique challenges and rise above and grow beyond what they are in the beginning.

Kate Daniels

Oh how I love this gal….she is spunky and she knows how to fight and use magic and I wish I could do the moves she can!! She is badass, but she also has her own vulnerabilities. Her weakness is pride. I love her as the heroinne for this series, but in Magic Binds what I loved was seeing such a strong character struggle with challenges and not always being “perfect” She definitely has her own flaws, but I loved seeing her grow and learn when she makes mistakes.

“The black volhv pivoted to me. “I have questions.”
“Can it wait?”
“No. Your wedding is in two weeks. Have you prepared your guest list?”
“Why do I need a list? I kind of figured that whoever wanted to show up would show up.”
“You need a list so you know how many people you are feeding. Do you have a caterer?”
“No.”
“But you did order the cake?”
“Umm…”
“Florist?”
“Florist?”
“The person who delivers expensive flowers and sets them up in pretty arrangements everyone ignores?”
“No.”
Roman blinked. “I’m almost afraid to ask. Do you at least have the dress?”
“Yes.”
“Is it white?”
“Yes.”
He squinted at me. “Is it a wedding dress?”
“It’s a white dress.”
“Have you worn it before?”
“Maybe.”
Ascanio snickered.”
“The ring, Kate?”
Oh crap.
Roman heaved a sigh. “What do you think this is, a party where you get to show up, say ‘I do,’ and go home?”
“Yes?” That’s kind of how it went in my head.

Blythe Daniels

I really adored this heroine here. She has one of those personalities that I was just drawn to. She has this quiet inner strength that is very admirable and can handle her alpha male pretty well considering she has suffered some intense trauma in her past. She is an introvert, and likes to have plenty of alone time.

She was genuine. Sweet. Protective. Nurturing. Everything he’d never had and didn’t know he needed or wanted. It was impossible not to love her. He hadn’t known that kind of love existed. Not that fierce, driving need that was so deep, so intense, it shook him every time he looked at her. Every second in her company was sheer paradise.

Marjorie

This is a heroine I can greatly admire. She is always on top of her game. She is really intelligent and sassy and I love how she tends to stay one step ahead. I love how self sufficient she is and can adapt to new situations and set of circumstances. It was really admirable.

Until I met ye I didnae realize there would be laughter, and arguing, and quiet, and calm, and peace, and heat, and strength, and two people feeling all those things at the same time, together.

Miranda Harkner

I just adore this heroine, I always have admired her strength and courage and devotion to her husband and family. I love how true she is to her husband Jake. She never loses hope on what they have together, and always believes in him especially in those moments when he doubts himself. And she has such courage and we see how tested she really is in this book and manages to rise above the worst of it to live a full and happy life. I love how she has such faith in others especially in her husband.

Big and strong as you are on the outside, you’ve grown so much stronger on the inside

Brigitta

Oh how I adored this heroine, she was so fun. She is one of those heroines I would want to be best friends with in real life. She is couragous, sweet, has a great sense of humor and believes in  doing the right thing. I love how true she is to herself and her own values no matter the danger. She has this innocent aura about her which is very refreshing. I love how loyal she is to those she cares about the most.

This man might believe all his secrets were safe, but he couldn’t hide them from her..

Piper Walsh

I ADORED Piper so much, she was so wonderful. I would love to have her as my friend. She has had a rough upbringing, especially with dealing with the scorn many people consider her to be because of her last name. She is hardworking and dedicated to her family and is willing to do what it takes to make sure her sister is being taken care of. She has such a good heart and protective and has spunk. She is the type of person you want at your back.

Elite Book Boyfriends of 2017

There were so many wonderful book boyfriends that are mouthwatering, swoony and make you weak at the knees and give you tingles down the spine and I had a difficult time narrowing down my list but these are my top picks for the whole year. Considering I have read close to 300 books, that is saying quite a bit. So let me share with you those bookish heroes I wish were real.

Sailor Bishop

Sailor is the type of hero that is a keeper!! I could totally see this hero as husband material. He is hardworking, dedicated to his family, driven to his dreams, kind and thoughtful and sincere and knows how to give a knee popping kiss.

I say we don’t run, we don’t hide. We try. I’m no poet, Isa. I can’t give you fancy words. But I know what we have is special. It’s worth a fight.

Dilys Merimydion

There is something so unique about Dilys, a type of hero you don’t see very often. He was raised in a matriarchal society, he has worked hard for many years just for the chance to find love and marry. He is devoted, loyal and honest. He is true to himself, he respects and reveres women, the stronger and spirited—the better. He knows what he wants and goes after it and doesn’t give up on the woman he wants. He is the perfect hero that makes you swoon.

You weren’t born to stand alone. You were born to love and to be loved. To share what’s inside of you. And whether you want to admit it or not, you’re heart knows it can share it with me.

Valentin Nikolaev

Valentin is the alpha of his pack, he is a true leader in every way. He has the strong personality to protect those he serves, but also has compassion and a sense of humor that allows him to connect with every member of his pack, no matter their age or if they are a dominant or submissive member. He is patient with Silver, and is a hero that adapts easily to new circumstances. What impressed me most about Valentin is what he will do to win over his lady. How he controls certain impulses that his alpha side so he can court his lady and I loved his growly alpha sensual side but he also knows how to win a woman’s heart. Modern men today could take lessons from him for sure!!

He needed a mate who’d refuse to take any of his shit. She’d also drive him insane, of that he was certain, but bears were lunatics anyway. It’d be fun. All he had to do was convince Silver of that

Maverick Rylan

This hero is beyond sexy and sweet and protective. He is very loyal to his brothers in the club and knows who he is and proud of it. He has confidence and self assurance and will make your heart melt.

“Was just thinking that Lucy could totally be the club’s mascot. You need a biker name, though, ” he said, hugging Lucy a little tighter to his chest as she tense at the clipping “Lucy” is cute and all but it doesn’t really fit our vibe. Or the sweater I bought you. Maybe Lucky or Bones or…Slugger. Right?” The cat purred and stared at him “You like that idea, don’t you? Yes, you do, kittykitty.”

“You are totally cooing at my cat right now.”

“Am not.”

“It’s turning me on.”

“I’m totally cooing at your cat.”

Matthew Hamilton

This is the type of hero you would give anything to have as your man and the leader of any country. He is honorable, honest, true to his convictions and loves people. He is intelligent and charming and fights for the woman he loves and the only hidden agenda he has is to increase the betterment of mankind at the heart of who he is. We see a man who sacrifices much to make America great but also manages to be a wonderful husband and father. I loved his giving heart, has such a hope for the future and is passionate about life.

I’m in over my head for this girl. Once I thought I couldn’t do both, govern a broken country and have her. But I know now that I will die trying to do both. This is who I am. I’m the president and a man

Remington Tate

Katy Evans writes the BEST heroes I have ever read. So yes Remy is another book boyfriend for sure. Now Remy is a bit different from her other heroes, which I loved. He is flawed and has his own vulnerabilities. But he is also a fighter and not just in the ring. He is beyond swoony and knows that when he finds the right woman, he will do everything to win her heart and protect her. He is a true alpha, dominant and possessive but also is “broken” and needs love.

Protecting you is my privilege. I will protect you and anything that you value as if it were mine
