Throwback Thursday (98)

This meme was once hosted at Buried Under Romance and Love Saves The World, and hasn’t been active for a while now. So I decided since I have a fierce love for historical romance, to start it up again. Anyone is welcome to join in if you like because I would love to see your pick of the week for a throwback historical romance that you loved!!

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past — usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Tin from Love Saves The World, Mary from Buried Under Romance, are fans of historical romance, this is a way to honor our favorite genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

So, the novel I’m featuring is…

For Olivia Raines, London’s most notorious courtesan, and the infamous Julian Southwood, Earl of Erith, falling in love will be the greatest risk of all in this wicked and wild romance from Anna Campbell.

Any man in London would worship her. Yet Olivia is, quite frankly, bored of them all. Despite her many dalliances, she’s never felt true passion, never longed for any lover’s touch…until Julian, London’s most notoriously wanton rake, decided to make her his mistress.

From the moment he first saw her, Julian knew he must possess her. And when he discovers her greatest secret, a scandal that could ruin her reputation and end her career, he knows just the way to use this damaging information to his most delightful advantage. He offers Olivia a deal with the devil: he’ll keep her secret…if she allows him the chance to show her true ecstasy.

But Olivia must be careful, for Julian has a secret of his own: he will not rest until she is completely, shamelessly his

Why Tempt The Devil?

I can never get enough of Anna Campbell, every book she writes is simply wonderful and packed with everything you look for in a historical romance. What I have come to love about this author is her writing. Its always the kind that will keep you up all night reading. This story is the eptiome of what I love about well written historical romance. Its not one of those light and fluffy romances that tends to be more common in HR now a days. But its a well balanced story that is rich and leaves you satisfied. We deal with some real life situations and I love how these characters just come to live and boy the sexual tension is mouth-watering in this one. Definitely a keeper for any readers bookshelf.

One of my favourites too, Renee.

  • Michele H

She’s definitely a great author. Gotta love those HR novels with true emotions and real life, sometimes gritty, situations.

  • That is a pretty intense cover, I love it!

  • This sounds like the type of historical romance that I would like. I will have to try it if I ever get caught up.

  • I haven’t read Anna Campbell before, but I’m not a big fan of Historical Romance

  • I’ve read two of hers, but not this one. It’s been a while. I should watch for her books at the library because she does engage me emotionally in her books.

  • Oh I LOVE this cover! It is so intense and fierce! I’ve not read anything by Anna Campbell but it sounds like her books are different and definitely what I might enjoy. I will see if any of the old ones are on sale on Kindle!

Have a lovely weekend, Renee. =)
