Reading Challenges:
  • Bad Boys of Romance 2017

  • Forbbidden Promises is the fourth installment in the O Malley Family series. This is Sloane’s book. And I have been wanting Sloane’s book for quite a while, because I know that she is one of the siblings that is more secretive. I always knew that she is one of those characters we don’t see who she is and now we do in this wonderful book. This sibling is the more reserved of them all, she is shy and quiet and does what is asked of her. But when her brother Teagan offers to give her freedom and peace away from Boston, she agrees and she finds herself in the small town on the coast of Oregon. She gets her first job at a diner, starts doing yoga on the beach and then she stumbles across her growly and formidable neighbor, Jude. Jude is part of the MacNamara family. The only last living one, when his family was killed and he wants revenge. But his revenge will compromise his relationship with Sloane. At first Sloane, wants Jude but he also makes her stronger and makes her realize her strengths, strengths she has hidden from even herself. She becomes very spirited and outspoken when she is around Jude. But now she is in danger from an enemy that is out to destroy the Boston families, and destroying them will destroy her family.

I’m saying I love you. You were already starting to make me question everything I knew before we found out you were pregnant. I’m your man, Sloane. Forever. Nothing fucking matters but us, Sunshine. You and me and the whole of the future spread out before us

I had quite a fun time with this book, and it was slightly different than the others. I really liked both of these characters for the most part. The first half of the book, was pretty high in the sex scenes. In fact, I was skipping a bit more since it felt like overkill especially compared to the previous books. But once these two start to get to real issues and get the heart of the matter of what they feel for each other, is where the story really gets interesting. Especially when there is a surprise that both of them have to face, and the plot really increases with drama from her family and their enemy Dimitri. This story was intense, and suspenseful but I really enjoyed the dynamics between Sloane and Jude find a way together. Forbidden Promises is an intense ride of passion, danger and a fight for true love.

    About Katee Robert

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

    • I am so excited about this book! I’ve read most of it, but not all – it’s not on my schedule for a few weeks, but I’ve been cheating. 😀 I definitely see what you’re saying about the amount of sex in the first half of the book, but I liked how this book had such a different feel compared to the other books. I can’t wait to see how this book ends. 😉 Wonderful review, Renee!

      Have a great week. =)

    • Some days I just want to flail because there are too many books I need in my life. lol Glad they settled down after going at it like rabbits. Heh

    • Sp many books, so little time

    • Neat how she was a secretive type and you got to see the real Sloane in this one. Haha, sometimes I breeze through the sex scenes if they get to be too many and I just want to see the plot move forward. I’ve got book one so I hope to get into this series at some point.

    • I am such a sucker for shy, quiet, more reserved heroines. I think I just relate to that really easily. I definitely need to check this one out.

    • I’m so happy to hear you liked this! I pretty much read it in one day which hasn’t happened in a long time, but it was great. I love how much growth we got to see in Sloan. And Jude! <3 <3 <3
I'm really looking forward to Aiden's book next and of course, Dmitri!!

    • I am still on book 1 and have been on it forever ugh.. I’ll eventually finish it. I am enjoying it, just not 100% sure why I keep putting it down. Glad you really liked this one. I think I would like Sloane

    • I haven’t read anything from this author, and I don’t know why. I love her covers and her blurbs. Maybe I’m just afraid of committing to another series.

      Great review!
