She’s a lone wolf with a cause.
As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters—the same one that rescued her—Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she’s eager to help connect the two. She just wasn’t prepared to feel a connection of her own.
Lone wolves are loners for a reason—and most of them bad. Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he’s sure she’s the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack’s sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash…

My Review Updated

In Savage Urges, we have our beloved Ryan’s story. Now this character has been fun through the series so I was pretty excited to get back to the series and the Phoenix pack. It starts off with our heroine Mackenna Wray who is in the midst of a dilemma. A teenage boy has shown up on her doorstep and she knows that he is in trouble and hiding a painful past. But she finds a safe haven for him….Ryan Connor is his uncle. Mackenna is a lone wolf, although not by choice but its the only life she has ever known. She has never experienced living in a pack, but she knows that Zack, her young charge, needs the closeness and the family connection to Ryan. Ryan at first upon meeting this feisty lone wolf, is appaled, but very quickly his wolf reacts in a strange way to Mackenna and Ryan is intrigued with Mackenna and pursues her. There is a feeling of danger in this story and some mystery involved. Ryan and Mackenna are perfect together. Ryan is a man of few words more like grunts. hehe But our Mackenna catches on very quickly to the meanings behind his grunts and speaks his language in a way. I did adore the way that these two worked together. Another fun highlight was seeing the way that the Phoenix pack accepted Zach right away into the pack. The narrator Jill Redfield is competent, I did like her for the most part, but she does take some getting used to.

Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter — she’s a Seer.
But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack . . . disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.
After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn’t have much use for Seers — except for Ally.
Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim.
And when enemies target the pack, Ally’s gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs.
Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

My Review Updated

In Spiral Of Need, We get a chance for Derren’s story. Now I have been intrigued by Derren ever since Nick’s story. And I love that this yummy bodyguard finally got his own book. Derren is bitter, and with good reason, against seers. However when a old favor asks for a favor to help a woman in need, he has very little choice in the matter. Ally is a seer and healer, but in her current pack, she is not being treated very good at all. She was with a pack member, but when he found his mate, Ally let him go. However through her evil machinations, every member of the pack has turned against her. So when Derren offers her sanctuary, she takes it knowing that she has little choice. But Ally is not submissive!! She is quite the dominant female, and I loved seeing her strength shine through. I thought Ally was quite the heroine. When she arrives at the Mercury Pack, she only has one person that is her support, and that is Nick’s mate Shaya. This is where I fell in love with Shaya even more than before. Derren is very bitter against seers, which from past books can be understandable, however Darren learns how to be more open and understanding. This story does take on a dangerous and suspenseful element, when the Mercury and Phoenix packs have been targetted by an unknown enemy who has put a bounty on them. And Ally is the only person that can save them with her visions. I loved seeing character growth in these characters, but most especially Darren. The plot in this book is fantastic, and one of my favorites from this author!! I am interested to see what Suzanne Wright will come up with next.
